Hi, I’m Karen, your certified health coach, nutrition expert, and personal trainer.

Listen, I know that after 40 it gets a little harder to lose weight and inches, to maintain muscle mass and bone density - BUT please note, I said it gets harder, it’s not impossible. You can find success with the proper plan in place!
Living a healthy lifestyle is going to help make the inevitable midlife transition from perimenopause to menopause and beyond a little easier.
I know that the changes we experience in midlife can make the most dedicated want to throw in the towel.
What we did in our 20s and 30s is no longer worker, in midlife fitness and nutrition is all about playing smarter not harder. Once you learn to work with your body you'll notice real, long lasting results!
I’ve done a lot of research when it comes to diet, gut health, hormones, and exercise after 40. Here’s what I’ve learned:
- Gut health MUST become a top priority. Your hormone health and gut health are closely tied together. It’s important that we maintain a healthy microbiome to reduce midlife and menopause symptoms -> and the best way to do that is through a plant-rich eating style (meaning go for the real and ditch the processed foods)
- Portion size matters!! Although our caloric needs may change as we get older the need for nutrient dense food does not. But remember, you're not 20 anymore and as your metabolism slows it's necessary you make some small changes in your nutrition.
- After 45 we really need to revamp our fitness routines. The need to build and maintain muscle mass becomes a top priory, as well as balance training and flexibility to maintain that high quality of life. Which means we need to become very intentional with our workout programing. Quality over quantity, form over speed! When it comes to midlife fitness you must have a well-rounded plan in place!
- And finally, It's important we focus on increasing the quality of our sleep and decreasing our stress levels. Self care is not a luxury, it's a necessity!
